Wheat...West coast wheat markets held mostly steady on the front side of
a holiday-shortened week, with white wheat bids hovering near the $6 level.
Soft white wheat bids have held within a 20 cent range since late September,
with the average since the start of the marketing year at $5.96 compared to
an average of $6.98 for the same period last year.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a rebound in wheat movement
off U.S. ports last week, coming in at 13.2 mbus to put year-to-date loadings
at 393 mbus, which is 31% ahead of a year ago. Hard red spring was the top
shipper, followed by hard red winter with 4.7 mbus and white wheat with 2.5
mbus. West coast exporters shipped 8.2 mbus of wheat, going mostly to Japan
and The Philippines, along with 17.6 mbus of soybeans for China.
Crop Progress...Winter wheat conditions for the Pacific Northwest showed
an overall decline this past week. While good to excellent ratings held at
47% for Idaho, Oregon reported a 6 point decline to 54% and Washington lost
5 points to 48%. Emergence remains good for all three states.
